CHAPTER 30

The moment Ian's hand cradled mine against the glass, I could feel it. This wasn't just a friend coming to help his neighbor. He'd been a man protecting his woman - and I liked how that felt. My eyes jumped up to his, and he stepped a little closer. Without a word, he lifted the glass free, only to set it back down beside me on the counter. Then he took that one last step.

"God, you're amazing," he whispered as he bent just a little lower.

But I was already reaching up. Our mouths met in the middle, our hands only a moment behind. His palmed my cheek. Mine pawed at the hard lines across his chest. I wanted to feel him, to touch and taste and smell him. The moment my lips parted, he was there, teasing my mouth with his, hinting at the pleasures he had to offer. I accepted, greedily.

This was the delirium I'd been hoping for. Nothing else mattered but the next pass of his lips or pulling him just a bit closer. When his mouth left mine, I almost begged, but his next kiss landed on my jaw, then my throat. My shoulder came after that, pushing aside my robe so he could reach my skin before he worked his way back up. Every touch was like fire. It had been far too long, and Ian knew exactly what he was doing. Those two things together were dangerous, but in the very best way.

So I kissed him back. My mouth found his chest, thrilled with the hint of fine hair over the granite of his pecs. I let my teeth tease his collarbone before I sucked at his neck. That one touch had turned us foolish, each of us trying to kiss faster than the other, to sample every exposed inch that we could. Weeks of circling each other had exploded with that one kiss. It left me breathing so hard I felt like I was panting, but I didn't want this to stop.

I'd said I understood those kids tonight, and I did. Right now, I was no better than either Gabby or Roman, as I let my fingers slide over Ian's washboard abs until they hit the waistband of his jeans. There, I forced them to stop, all too aware that we were still in the kitchen, still kissing each other like there wasn't enough time to finish. Still not behind a locked door.

But I wanted more, and there was only one way to prove it. Grabbing his jeans like a handle, my fingers on the inside, against the thin skin of his inner hip, I pulled him against me. My other hand reached for his neck. He growled into my mouth as our tongues danced, proving I wasn't the only one on the verge of losing control. Or past it.

I wanted to touch him more, to feel him. To have him. There was something about the power of this man that drove me wild.
